Here at Keep and Bear, we have great respect for all denominations of Christianity. Our modern churches reflect the influence of one particular man, whose actions led to great reforms that have lasted through the centuries.

Five hundred years ago, on October 31, 1517, Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses on the church door at Wittenberg. With this document, Luther called the Church to return to the basics of grace alone, faith alone, and Scripture alone. Sometimes it is expressed in Latin: sola gratia, sola fide, sola scriptura.

Simply, we believe that we are saved by God’s grace alone. God’s grace is His undeserved love for sinners that sent Jesus to accomplish our rescue from sin and death. Humans do not contribute in any way to their own salvation, through works or purchase. God accepts sinners by grace, not because they have earned His acceptance.

We believe that we receive this undeserved grace and all that it has accomplished for us by faith alone. Even faith is not a human emotion or thought that makes God love us more than others. It’s simple trust in God’s loving promises.

Finally, all these things are based on the record breathed by God. That is, we believe in Scripture alone. The Old and New Testaments are not the product of some ecstatic and emotional trance. Nor are they the wishful dreams of desperate and hopeless humans. The whole Bible was written “that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name” (John 20:31).

It is said that Luther’s act of nailing his 95 theses on that Church door fanned the flames of Reformation across Europe. Many would follow, and the world would never be the same again.

Where would the Church be today without this brave act? Perhaps America would not be the nation it is. Perhaps the Bible would not be written in the common tongue for all to read.

Grace alone. Faith alone. Scripture alone. Yes, Luther nailed it.

And the best part? This conservative t shirt is made in the USA, printed in the USA, on an American-Made t-shirt press!
